Warrington & Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recently purchased a new high specification Toshiba Aplio MX ultrasound system for the Radiology department at Warrington General Hospital. The new system will provide for the growing demands of a DVT service, alongside MSK and general ultrasound imaging. Carol Cecchini, Principal Sonographer says, “The high quality images provided by Toshiba’s Precision Imaging Technology were a key factor in the Trust’s decision to purchase the Aplio system.” Toshiba’s Aplio MX was created with a lighter more ergonomic form and incorporates the high-end imaging capabilities a busy department needs. This unique combination of design and performance makes it an ideal system to increase throughput while enhancing patient care. With a 50 percent smaller body and 32 percent less weight, the system excels in mobility and sustainability, with greater manoeuvrability around patients, while a configurable user interface results in faster exams and greater productivity. Ergonomic features designed to reduce strain and repetition, include an articulating display with a four-axis arm so that the screen can be moved and swivelled into perfect position, protecting sonographers from neck, shoulder and eye strain. Lightweight transducers also facilitate scanning with greater comfort and flexibility and in addition, as many of Toshiba’s transducers are interchangeable across systems, cost efficiencies are also achieved. Customisable buttons allow the user to re-assign function keys and configure the console to suit individual purposes. Advanced clinical applications provide unprecedented image clarity to the user. Toshiba’s Precision Imaging is a multi-resolution signal processing technique that analyses ultrasound images line-by-line to enhance the amount of information obtained. Differential Tissue Harmonic Imaging provides superior border and tissue definition deeper than ever before, for easier images of difficult-to-scan patients. Toshiba’s ApliPure+ combines the advantages of spatial and frequency compounding in transmission as well as reception for uniformity and reduction of speckle noise. Another exclusive Toshiba technology is Advanced Dynamic Flow for high resolution colour flow imaging. Volume imaging allows for reproducible, standardised exams for serial studies and evaluation of pathology.
